Can i use final cut 5 with my G4?

Hey together,

i just bought a new sony handycam high definition - HDR-HC9. I have final cut 4 on my G4 10.3.9 and i guess i found out that i need final cut 5 or further to capture my videos with the hd cuality. So, would final cut 5 work on my mac?
