Wink rage M3 display powerbook

Hi
I'm appreciating in advanced if somebody help me resolve my problem.
i got a used powerbook G4 500mhz, 500Mb ram with dead internal battery.
i installed many time the OS 9.1 and OS-x 10.4, upgreating those.....
but just with graphic card driver off, or safe mode or extention off i can use the OS.
i had many problem with modem and sound but when i removed the display driver , it resolved. but the DVD player has error 70017 that means the DVD device is not there. as i searched many see that the graphic card is the problem yet, (ati rage M3 8mb) but i'm confused!!
i load the APPLE TEST CD but it say there is not any hardware problem. also removed the OS and installed the fresh type many time, and same result.
id there any DVD player that i can use? or is my problem fualty graphic card? what should i do?

thanks for your help.
