We have a external DVD burner...

and i wanted to know if you could copy a DVD whit it...

I,m using Toast titanium...and when i want to make a copy of a disk I have to put it in my cd writter first then select copy in my Toast...

but if i put a DVD in my CD drive to do the same...will it work???

will the cd reconize the DVD so Toast could do the copy???

The CD will not recognize the DVD.

If it's a R1 commercial DVD, a straight "save as disc image" will not work. Either due to encryption or size.

ok...and if on a other mac G4...this one has a DVD player on it...could it be done?

if i put the dvd in the dvd player of my MacG4 and try to copy it to the DVD burner...

You'd need something to decrypt the commercial DVD (im if it is commercial) like DVDBackup.. that'll decrypt it and save it to your HD, you can then use th VIDEO_TS folder and make your own DVD with it.

Again, assuming that the VIDEO_TS folder is under 4.3Gb

I think I have DVDbackup it came whit the DVD BURNER...by the way its a Lacie burner...

I got to save the dvd to disk using DVDbackup...and them make it into a DVD again using video_ts folder...about this last one ....where can you fine that?

Sorry I sound cluless....but its my first DVDburner...

when you extract with DVDBackup, it should create a folder called VIDEO_TS

then in Toast, create a new DVD project, name the DVD, drop the Video_TS in there, and create an empty folder named AUDIO_TS, and burn away... this folder isn't needed sometimes, but i guess it helps with player compatibilty... i just put them in, just in case.

does DVDBackup works for mac OS9 ???...

and why cant I open a .app file???

*.app is the extension for OS X apps.. i believe.. someone correct me if im wrong.

i stopped using OS 9, so i really can't help ya there.. but www.dvdrhelp.com might have some useful info for you...
