Just got my first Mac and tried to install MSN Messenger.

The MSN Messenger icon appears in the dock and opens and works just fine. But when I start up the application, I also get the Microsoft Messenger disc icon on the top right of the screen under the Mac HD icon. The only way to get rid of it is to shut down MSN Messenger and then eject the MSN Messenger disk.

Kinda annoying. Any tips? Did I not install it properly?

Thanks!

It sounds like you might not have installed it properly. Open it again so that the MSN disk appears and then drag the Icon of Microsoft Messenger to the Application folder on the right. This will copy the application to your applications folder. You can then eject the disk and delete the .dmg that you downloaded.

Then if you want it in your dock either

launch the application and ctrl+click (or right click) and select Keep in Dock

or

Go to your applciation folder and drag the Messenger Icon to your dock.
