Dock Modifications and Status, HELP!

I have recently been looking through a few posts and noticed how some users have cool modified docks. No, I don't mean just 2D, I already have that. I am talking about weather, time, itunes info, and maybe a few other tidbits of information. All neatly in a dock on the bottom. Does anyone know how to accomplish this? Googling turned up nothing

I know he says he made this one, but surely other options exist

I did. Twice in fact, but no response. I even followed a few links to his site and he says it is just a personal project he isn't planning on releasing. I am sure this type of thing has been done by others though
