meh, $130 a month + SAF + tax so ~$150/month for the top plan with the $15 value pack.

I'm in. not happily, but still in.

Good thing I have a good job.

Of course not. Do you really think Apple would allow that?

PS Beat you to it! :P

Actually, considering how much I use my current phone in terms of voice, the cheapest plan is actually pretty good for me, at least to start with. I have no idea how much data I'll use.

I would have preferred the option of adding a data plan (unlimited or otherwise) to my current plan, but overall I'm not as disapointed as I thought I'd be.

Rogers Announces iPhone Plans in Canada

Rogers announced pricing for the iPhone 3G in Canada today. iPhone 3G combined voice and data plans start at $60 and will be available starting July 11th.
Quote:
"As the wireless provider voted number one in wireless satisfaction(x), Fido is thrilled to offer a variety of well-priced voice and data plans making iPhone 3G accessible to as many of our customers as possible," said Sylvain Roy, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Fido. "These pricing plans will allow our urban customer base easy enjoyment of all that iPhone 3G has to offer."
The data plans, however, are not unlimited as had been rumored. The new rate plans are detailed below:

- $60/month. 150 minutes + unlimited evenings/weekends, 400 MB Data, 75 SMS sent, unlimited incoming SMS
- $75/month. 300 minutes + unlimited evenings/weekends, 750 MB Data, 100 SMS sent, unlimited incoming SMS
- $100/month. 600 minutes + unlimited evenings/weekends, 1 GB Data, 200 SMS sent, unlimited incoming SMS
- $115/month. 800 minutes + unlimited evenings/weekends, 2 GB Data, 300 SMS sent, unlimited incoming SMS

Honestly for the price of the top plan, it really should be unlimited everything. what is nice is unlimited hotspot access (I would assume this is accross canada)

I might start on a lower plan, i'm not much of a phone talking guy, but data will be needed, especially with my mobileme account.

Cheers,
Oh God, tell me about it. That $15 "value" plan is complete crap. All I need is caller ID, nothing else. I couldn't care about "Who Called" (isn't that what caller ID is for), "Caller Ring Trax" (unless I can make it sound like a British ringer. I love that sound), or 2,500 Call Forwarding Minutes (I've never used CF, never will). 2,500 texts isn't bad though.

WOW, I cannot believe they are doing that, I actually feel really bad for the neighbors to the north. All this time, waiting and waiting to get the iphone in their country and their provider royally screws them over, I hope they change that for you guys.

Well Rogers can go climb a tree. I'm not gonna pay $15 for Caller ID. Guess it will be a surprise when I answer the phone like the old days lol.

Typical Rogers BS though. I got HD TV recently and the website said that you could get additional channels for something like $4. So I called to get TSN HD and the woman says .. "oh .... you can't get that channel by itself .... it only comes in a bundle with 3 other channels for $8".

Damn you Rogers!!!!!

that's terrible. those plans are awful. i'm paying $25 for my voice plan right now - there's no way i'd pay $60 a month!!!!!

i guess i'll have to buy one elsewhere and get it unlocked. *sigh*

($60 + $5.95 SAF) * 1.13 * 12 * 3 = $2682.85

so not worth it.

Compared to US plan, the minutes offered seems low.

Does Canada work like Europe in that received phone calls do not count towards those minutes?

Dang, Rogers really does suck. How is it possible that, in 2008, a company still charges on a per MB basis for internet service?? That is beyond lame.

I kind of wished Apple refused to sell to Rogers without a reasonable rate unlimited data service.

no, unfortunately not. received calls count and most of them are not billed by second. if you make a 30 second call, it counts as a minute.

I'm curious.

Is there an extra text messaging plan you guys can add on? 300 max outgoing is a bit low. For $115 you should be getting unlimited.

Sympathies Canadians, you has them.
