I am a recent convert to macs. I just wanted to know if there was some equivalent to a Windoze task manager. Primarily, I want to see how much memory is being used at any time, and which programs are using the most memory.

Welcome...try Activity Monitor

Try using the activity monitor. It's actually more informative than Task Manager. You can find it in the Applications / Utility folder. I move it to my dock for easy access.

You can also open up the Terminal program in the Applications/Utilities folder and type in the command top in the terminal window. It will give the same info as the Activity Monitor. Just to give you another option there! :)
