Cool! I was wondering when they would post a guided tour.

Good that they put it up. Apple's servers might be a little slow today!

Does Apple not hold auditions for these videos?

I don't think they could have come up with a creepier, more wooden, PC-ish presenter. He's gotten even worse than last year.

Darn- I can't watch it as I'm at work (I guess I shouldn't be on the forums either). Does it mention anything about iphone 2.0 multiple calendar or contact support? I am interested in tapping into my exchange work e-mail and calendars, but I don't want that mingling with my personal data that I have on my iphone now. Up till now, from what apple's announced and leaked firmware shots, it has looked like if you want exchange push calendars or contacts, you can't maintain a separate personal set. Thanks!

WTF?? They don't mention GPS turn by turn directions. They only show GPS as tracking where you're located.

The MAPS portion in the full demo still has you hitting the "next" button at junction points.

They were never promised. I think you are confusing the rumors of Tom Tom porting their software to the iPhone with announced features.

Anyone notice the separate Contacts app, like on the iPod touch, during the tour on page 2 of the home screen. It makes it's first appearance around 35:20 in the guided tour video.

Yeah. I hope they fix this. I guess it might be a bit of a battery drain but why not track where you are as you travel?
As it is, it's no real step up from the current situation. And in most major cities the current triangulation usually finds me down to the block. It's just the same old thing with a more accurate starting point.

And where's the horizontal keyboard on SMS and mail???

Yes, it follows you, shows this in the video in fact.

What it does not do is give you voice turn by turns. Or traverse your route, it will, however, keep your current position in the center.

I seriously doubt in 10 minutes that guy will go into anything that complicated. Those tutorials are so vanilla and useless it's an insult to prosumers.

That guy is so damn creepy. Can't they do someone else? He's been one of the weirdest parts of EVERY ONE of these videos.

Not to be sexist but I think it'd be nice if it was a girl. Or Steve Jobs! Or just about anyone with charisma.

I had to look that word up in Dictionary, and I got several very different definitions:
Quote:
1 an amateur who purchases equipment with quality or features suitable for professional use: : the magazine is aimed at the prosumer who uses a $10,000 camera to make home movies of his dog.
2 a prospective consumer who is involved in the design, manufacture, or development of a product or service: : a panel of prosumers weighed in on the plans for the new shampoo.
• a person who designs or produces a product for personal use or for sale: : she's a driven prosumer with one idea: to make a better-smelling toothpaste.
• a well-informed and proactive consumer: : prosumers read labels, sometimes obsessively.

ORIGIN blend of professional or producer or proactive and consumer.
You are obviously using the last one ... I like it.

That's because they aren't geared towards prosumers.....

They want to show how accessible the phone is to the average consumer. Believe it or not, not everything Apple does is geared towards YOUR needs....

I think that's what MobileMe is for.

I think they guy is great, there is just something I can't put my finger on about him. Watch his body language when he says you can "tap and tilt" you way though a game. The guy should be doing Paxil commericals. Oh, and notice all though all of Apple's stuff, it is never, ever "the" iPhone. It is iPhone.

Seriously though I think a bubbly person with a gee whiz ain't this great personality is just the thing Apple should stay far away from. Your iPhone is not a toy.
