Panther printing to Panther shared printer problem

I'm trying to print to an HP 5550 shared by my desktop from my laptop. It can see it with no problem but whenever I switch to that printer (or try and print with it the default printer) it locks up and I have to force quit. Anyone else with this problem or any ideas of a fix? Thanks.
