My question is why would you want to? AVI (MPEG-4/DIV-X) is a much better compression and now some consumer DVD players can play them.
 
I can't burn the file to DVD. Toast will not convert it. Toast will burn MOV files though.
 
None of the programs listed could convert the file. DivX Doctor said that the AVI had an ac3 audio file and it could not convert it. When I played it on quicktime pro there was no audio. Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks for the link. It worked perfectly. I am burning the DVD as I write.

Pet peeve here. AVI, like MOV, is a wraper, not a format or a codec. Those file extentions do not relate to the quality of the video or what codec was used.
