MobileMe Showing up in Software Update XML

If you look at the XML file that Software Update uses to check for available updates, an update for MobileMe is now listed at the bottom!

Of note are the MobileMe.pkg file and the file describing the update (for English language users).

This isn't showing up in Software Update for me, just in the XML file, so I haven't installed it manually. If anyone does, I'd be curious to know what happened!

Yes I did - it changed every reference on my mac from .mac to MobileMe - I had to close mail for the update.

For those curious it modified my accounts in Mail to use the .me.com server and lists both .mac and me.com email addresses under the same account separated by a comma.

How do you install the MobileMe package? I checked software update before coming into work and nothing was available.

It took less than 30 seconds to download and install - so you should be good - its only 25mb...

I reckon iTunes 7.7 will show up in that XML soon too.

Does anyone know how the .mac family pack works?

If one were to get it, and had a friend wanting to use one of the 4 accounts. How does that work, does the original account have access to all sub accounts files and stuff? Or is each account separate?

Nice find!

Now only if you could make the MobileMe service actually come online now.

when you compose a new email, is there a choice in the "from" bit of the .mac email address and the mobileme email address?

Yes. There was that same option before the MobileMe update too.

Yes - the drop down menu to choose which account to send it from list both me.com and mac.com options

That depends on whether or not you manually added a .me server.

No it doesnt - all I did was install the above update and it shows on mine - I did not add the me.com server manually - the update did it automatically.

I'm all up-to-date and cloudy; looking foward to waking up to iTunes 7.7, iPhone 2.0 and push email, contacts, calendar!
