MobileMe Finally Online?

After a full day of ups and downs, it appears that Apple has finally gotten their new MobileMe (Me.com) service online. The service was expected to launch around 2am Pacific Time on Thursday morning, but actually came online at around 4am PT.

Since then, the service has been alternating between being online and offline amidst what appeared to be heavy traffic with slow load times. Regardless of the problem, the online service is now up and running. The $99/year service replaces the .Mac service and offers web-based email, addressbook, calendar, photos and storage. It also integrates with both Mac OS X and the iPhone to provide "push" services that allows all your devices to be synchronized.

Based on an earlier iPhone review, there was some confusion about being able to mix both business (Exchange) and personal schedules and contacts. According to Gizmodo, as long as the personal side is handled by MobileMe, it should integrate cleanly with Exchange.

Its slow as anything. Granted, I am using IE7 because thats all I can have on my machine at work... But I've been waiting on the accounts page to load for 5 minutes now...

I have been trying for the past 20 minutes to get anything to sync and all is failling. Hell, I can't create anything on the web interface without it throwing an error.

Its just not ready

I can't seem to log in. I just signed up for the free trial. Maybe it's online working for previous .Mac users?

Thought it was just me...

...but several people are having issues getting in via SysPrefs.

I can get in via www.me.com just fine though.

Also, I currently have TWO iDisks on my desktop. One for 10GB (correct assuming my upgrade isn't done yet) and one for 60GB!!! So that'll be total crap then.

Hopefully it will get cleared up. The iDisks appear hosed right now for me, and are totally locked in a permanent syncing loop.

Ho hum, it'll clear itself I'm sure..

I was able to log in. I am a former .Mac member. My inbox and other info was transferred and everything worked okay and it was very slow. I think the servers are overloaded. I look forward to enjoying more MobileMe!

I don't like the idea of requiring a credit card to sign up for a FREE trial. What the hell. Now how do they expect a 17 year old kid to have a credit card

Damnit. I wanted to test it out.

Anyone been able to validate their credit card in the UK?
It seems it wants the first and last name on the card, but in the UK, it's just a name (e.g. it could be JD Doe or John Doe or J Doe etc)...

I have Safari 4 the developer preview and it doesn't work with that, I don't know if its because its the beta. But MobileMe works perfectly with Firefox 3 for me.
