this is serious, i can't use Mail until i go through the setup. the problem is that i can't find the incoming mail server and outgoing (STMP) mail server. i saw it somewhere, but now i can't remember. does anyone know the address for these servers? i really need to send an email, right now !!!😕

if you're talking about sending a mail from a non-apple address, you are going to have to check with your provider for the smtp information...

if you're talking about sending it with your @mac.com address, you could use the webmail... just go to the apple website -> itools -> webmail.

or do I not understand your queston?? 😕

irmongoose

irmongoose, you've done well, i barely understand the question!😛
i'm trying to find the server adresses for @mac.com (the adresses for the outgoing and incoming mail servers) Mail in OS X needs this to do the setup, and until i set it up i can't use Mail.
at least now i can start looking for them at the Apple website.

thanks Beej. i just couldn't remember what it was or where i saw it. i eventually found them at the iTools online help.

for anyone else who's wondering:

incoming mail server - mail.mac.com

outgoing (SMTP)mail server - smtp.mac.com ( i think thats what it is, or its STMP. i've really confused myself now)🙄

I hate mail but it has the text and the quartz haveen (sorry for the simpsons joke😀 )
entourage is nice
does this have anything to do with the topic
nooo it doesn't

SMTP. Simple Mail Transfer Protocol.

What was wrong with just putting your details in the Internet Preferences and setting mail to use them?
