CPW Iphone....No activation

Got my iphone today from CPW.


Ive not activated the o2 sim yet.


Say if i dont activate the sim will i still be signed upto the contract?


If not and i was to wait for the jailbreak could i pretty much have the phone on PAYG if i was to put a payg sim in the handset😕
