iTunes, older ipod and xp

Hi

Apple has an older ipod version refurb on sale for $170. But the issue is that it is mac only.

I have a firewire port on my expansion card for use with my camcorder. Im wondering if the ipod would work with my pc. Because apple states that it is mac only.

Where as the newer version are deemed mac and pc.
