So I've upgraded to iPhone software 2.0 and I've been having fun with the new apps and functionality. But one thing I've noticed is that my iPhone can only hold a certain amount of text messages per conversations (about 1000), and when you send or receive new messages, older messages get deleted.

Now I wanted to ask:
1) Am I correct about the automatic deletion behavior of the iPhone as of 2.0?
2) Are there any windows-based programs (similar to Syphone in functionality) that I can use to archive my messages?

Thanks in advance.
