iPhone 3G only one speaker working?

When I play music or anything only one of the speakers on the bottom works? Is this meant to happen? or is only one a speaker?

There's only one speaker. On the other side is the microphone.

Your all wrong. ONE is a speaker, and the OTHER ONE is the mic..

To further sledge hammer this, having 2 speakers that close together would be pointless since you wouldn't really be able to get any perception of stereo separation.

Actually one is the speaker and the other is a coolant refill port to keep the phone cool.
