My 2-month old baby (12" PB) has started emitting a very odd clunk sound from the HD. It doesn't happen when I boot up, or anything, but rather yesterday when I was working in Photoshop it did it once, and then today it did it again when I was doing relatively nothing.

It rarely makes this sound, and it's not a double-clunk.

Anyone have any insight?

I'm really hoping this HD isn't going to die, even tho I have all my schtuff backed up for emergency... 🙁 oh well, looks like I have an excuse to buy a 7200rpm drive if it dies 😀

hmmmm.... If I were you, I would immediately back up my hard drive, and send the computer off to apple. My iBook's hard drive was making scartching noises for a few days, when suddenly the computer froze and the hard drive crashed. Good luck.

shazbot... I really don't want to part with my powerbook. I'm too attached to it. Will they send a replacement HD if you ask?
