I think the Home button is broke how do I restore?

I need to restore the ipod touch after a failed jailbreak but trying the forced reset is not working. I am starting to suspect that the home button or the sleep wake button is not functional! What do I do?
 
Never mind -- I misread your posting....not an iPhone...

If you haven't already tried, check out:

Under "Trouble Shooting" the 2nd and 3rd Tip deal with what to do if your i Phone doesn't respond.
