iPhone 3G Shortage to Last a Month?

Computerworld reports on observations made by Piper Jaffary nalaysts who believe that Apple will continue to have supply problems with the iPhone 3G for the next two to four weeks.

eWeek reports that the iPhone 3G was sold out in 114 of Apple's 188 stores this morning, only marginally better than the 117 sold out stores on Tuesday. The author has compiled a list, but the locations that did have stock this morning may already be sold out.

See. Getting there at 5am on iDay2 and standing there like a geeky dork for 4 hours has its benefits.

I don't believe the iPhone 3G even exists. How do you like that.

This whole thing is just a lie. A clever ruse.

In fact, none of you exist either. You and your "I have a iPhone 3G" posts. You're part of some viral marketing campaign or something, and all these posts are generated by a Turing machine.

iPhone 3G. What a laugh.

My GPS is so markedly better in v2.0, I wonder why I even need a 3G. I guess so when I download the porn, I don't loose the mood by the time it arrives....

Wow, I wonder when they will pass the 2mil mark then, should be sometime soon then (unless they aren't going to announce it)

Undoubtedly. Waited over four hours on Day 1 - No complaints. This phone is remarkable. I updated my 1st gen to 2.0 and synced it so that I can continue to work with apps and play games while the 3G is charging.

I live in a non-3G city... so you couldn't be any closer to the truth!

Is the stock really that low? I'm so glad I camp-out on the launch day.

Or just wait a month and then walk in and out with no hassles.

I find it odd that there are such supply issues. I ordered over the phone on Day 1 and received 3 days later. I am now getting a replacement sent and it should be here in no more than 4 days. I guess Canada is sucking up the supply ... or just ordered more than we needed.

I wonder where all those folks are now that claimed there was no need to line up because the iPhone 3G won't sell that well (since they said it's only a minor upgrade) and that they'll have plenty of them to go around?

Waited 7 hours for mine and am happy as a clam!

Would you mind walking over to the window and holding still for a few moments while we get a clean shot?... I mean, to see how beautiful it is outside today?

I have been trying all week to get a 16GB Black and a Speck PixelSkin Case in black... of course both are always out of stock. I was even settling for 8GB Black, but of course stores only have the white phone.. I don't think I'll ever win.

Wish I was in an area where I could just walk in and get it and be out within half an hour.

LOL. I did say that before especially how at&t handled the monthly plan and other details in the last minute. Enough said, I went to the local Apple Store as earlier as 9PM on July 10.

If how ATT's (lack of) stock of the iPhone is any indication, I'd say there's going to be shortages for longer than a month. Out here (Sacramento), all ATT stores are out, and the phones are on back order for 28 - 35 days for both Black models, and 21 - 28 days for the White model.

I don't think ATT nor Apple thought that demand for this phone would be this much..

I am so glad I wasn't a woose last Friday and didn't go home and sleep after a 5-6 hour plane ride back home to Boston. I literally had the cab driver take me to the Apple store from the Airport. :-) and waited 4hrs in line on Friday Afternoon.

I guess I shouldn't feel so bad now that I can't buy mine until after I move at the end of the month.

the problem is that Apple's supply website isn't accurate so all these articles are unfounded. Multiple times it says available and I call and its not. The vice versa has occurred too.

I know, right. I'm so glad I got in line that early. Number 10 in line and over 75 iPhones guaranteed me one. There were even huge lines the Monday after launch. Sucks to have to wait even more.

Yep -- you mentioned you got the last iPhone3G in Jacksonville, and apparently they haven't received any more since.

And, since the girlfriend's phone is in the gulf of mexico now, she's phoneless too!

you are cold hearted.

I wonder how many phones were produced for the first month. If they're all selling out, that should give us an idea of how many phones will be sold in the first month, right?

I ordered a white 3g on the 14th from an AT&T store in Huntsville, AL. I picked it up this morning. I was expecting it to take much longer than that.
