For those of you who can read Japanese, (and even those who can't) I found this on a Japanese auction.

A set, an opened but sealed 5300ce/117 and an un-opened 5300/100. High asking price though, ¥250,000 is about $2300.

The same seller is also selling a brand new unopened PowerBook 2400/180 with some extras.

Any takers? 😀

I collect old Macs, and when it was new I wanted one BAD but it was way too expensive. But no way. The 2400? Interesting.

Are you refering to the problem the 5300 had with it's battery? From what I read, only 5 people had a problem with it, and the problem was that the battery burst into flames I belive, not exploded. Though I suppose one isn't that much better than the other, is it? 🙄

I got a 5300cs (hence the name) for about $200 with everything included, i.e. the box, manuals, etc. It's a nice little machine although cursed with a passive-matrix screen and a woefully slow processor. Still I've always liked the form factor.

The 2400 I'm interested in as well, but they go for a small fortune here.

The 2400 auction Unopened, unused PB2400 for ¥300,000 ($26-2700?)

5300 was a 100Mhz ppc with a passive-matrix screen, gray-scale.

5300c had a color active matrix display.

5300cs was the same as the 5300c but had a dual-scan display.

5300ce was the end of the line, had an active-matrix display, and was 117Mhz. Fully decked out, the original price was $6500 😱

Check out EveryMac.com it's a great site for machine specs.
