.cue and .bin

i got a movie
when i unstuff the .rar's for cd1 i get a .cue file
when i unstuff the .rar's for cd2 i get a .bin and a .cue

so do i use the .bin from cd2 for the first cd1 how does it work?

me lost hah
 
well it looks like if you dont find the bin to disc 1 you will only be watching the last half of your illegal pirated movie.

It could be a legitimate replacement for a scratched DVD or something. But yeah, it's probably not 😎
 
haha ijon i was going to make a similar comment as soon as I saw this thread .... i hope he atleast gets to see the first part ...
 
You need a cue file for every bin file you have, otherwise, that nice huge bin file is useless. I made that mistake a few times myself - I'd download the nice big bin file first, then not grab the cue file, or be unable to grab the cue file, and I'd be screwed. My rule nowadays is ALWAYS grab the cue file first.

So yah, as the other posters have said, unless you can find the cue file for that exact bin file, you're SOL.

you are correct, the cue just tells the burning program where everything goes on the cd, kind of like a set of instuctions.

I *think* a .bin will mount like a dmg or iso in OS X, so you can just use disk utility to burn the mounted volume.

i found the problem

the .rar34 is corrupt, so when its done uncompressing all 40 something .rar's the .bin file just vanishes... its a CRC error whatever that means

is there a way to tell unrarX to unstuff everything and keep the file even if there is an error?

CRC stands for cyclic redundancy check. There are many different methods available to calculate a "check number" for binary data, to be able to see if the data is not altered after being transmitted (i.e. downloaded) - CRC is a common method for protecting binary data that way.

I only have experience with hardware design, so I can not speak to the software aspect of things, but I assume it is much similar, i.e. writing code in C++ using registers. I have actually designed CRC registers in hardware design before, and essentially, you take the binary data, one bit at a time, and shift it into a CRC register after XORing the binary data with the MSB (most significant bit) of the CRC. The "CRC formula" itself is made up of polynomials. By XORing the bits in the CRC generator, this guarantees the cyclical aspect of CRC.

i think you going to have to accept that your illegal movie will not work, i recommend using bittorrent next time if you didnt, trackers dont tend to host corrupt or fake files.

Yes, suprnova.org is great for bittorrent torrents.

BTW: is a .torrent file 'illegal'? All it is is a link to a tracker and a bunch of SHA1 checksums...

no torrents are not illegal, its just their main use really is on pirated sites, but like any file format its just how the user uses it.
