Think I'm Done
I don't even trust MobleMe anymore. I've used .Mac for some time to sync my Mac's which in turn kept my iPhone, Google Contacts and both Macs in sync....but today I guess cause MobleMe is having so many problems...it hosed my contacts on ALL points. If I wouldn't have had a backup I'd have been in a bad spot.
When I restored the backup while still connected to MobleMe, as soon as I synced I lost a bunch again...I had to disconnect from MobleMe then restore and everything went to plan. Now I just don't trust the service.... |

That's why I cancelled and got a prorate refund.
I had .Mac for a while before MobileMe came and didn't really use it much, but when Apple announced MobileMe I thought I might end up moving my email to it and use it more. After what has transpired since launch I honestly cannot believe it. It's bad enough coming in on MobileMe fresh (of sorts) and being hit with all these problems, but for people who actually depend on their @mac.com/@me.com address it's now unforgivable. Even if it gets sorted out I'm thinking along the same lines as you. Do I want to subscribe again, spend time moving my address to @me.com, and then get screwed over somewhere down the line if/when Apple add some new features or it spontaneously goes down for a period? No. |

Further proof that my decision not to buy MobileMe was a good one...
I feel sorry for current users, especially those long-time .mac users currently experiencing these very disruptive, frustrating issues.

I'm really glad I never purchased this. Looks like I'll stick with gmail and get my GoDaddy account reactivated.

I'm on the verge of chucking it - I am a long time .mac user and it worked fine for me.
Today has almost been the last straw for me. I wouldn't mind if Apple could give some sort of idea of when it will be all sorted - but I have heard nothing.

I purchased MobileMe box few weeks ago but at this point I'd like to leave my activation code unused. Like the first guy said, it's all about trust: if you can't trust your email provider, it doesn't matter how good it can possibly became in the future, trust is not something you can gain so easily.
Btw, I have a question. Since Apple has clearly changed product description and not all features are there, can I ask for a refund? I'd like to have my money back. Who should I contact?

The best way to get the point across to Apple is to cancel
I am going to stick it out due to the extension I got but by the end of the extension, Apple really, REALLY needs to get these major problems fixed

Mine hasn't been activated either - even unopened for that matter. I plan on going back to the store with my receipt and getting my money back. I already had a .Mac account that was converted to MM. On release day I bought 2 iPhones - one for me and one for the wifey. I was more exctied about MM than I was the actual iPhone becasue I thought we were going to be able to share calendars/contacts etc with a MM Family Plan. So I bought the Family Plan while I was in the store. What a mistake that was. I can't even upgrade my account to a family plan if I wanted to. The other bummer is that it doesn't do the things I had hoped it would do. I can't imagine Apple pushing back much on returns, but I'll post my experience later in the week.

Mobile Me has been been brilliant for me.
There was some minor issues early on - mainly with Outlook and some calanders duplicated/missing. However, it's been great since then. Calenders and contacts that I've edited on ANY device have synced quickly, if not instantly. Mail has been good too and I'm now working with Thunderbird very well. I don't use the Mobileme website all that much. I have found it a little slow at times, but useable. My workaround for 'send from account' works pretty well. If I could tell the iPhone/web site to place sent mail from specific accounts into specific folders like I can with Thunderbird, that would be great. |
