How do I get it? Software Update doesn't see it, neither does my AirPort Utility.

So.. then wait or download it at the link above.

I wonder if this helps the MobileMe -> Mac push issues. If I reboot my extreme I can get MM pushes for a short period of time and then they die off.

I'll wait and see if it helps... or hurts... the Macbook wireless dropout.

FWIW Kilamite, if you are trying to install this update on Leopard, note that OS X 10.4.11 is in the requirements.

This is only for user's running 10.4.11, not for those who have already upgraded to leopard.

Oh, it's 10.4 only? Apparently I won't be installing it.

If this is only for 10.4, then the article should really be edited to make that clear.

Are you sure you didnt miss the last APE update a month or two back? By the way how is a piece of router firmware/software dependent on the OS on the desktop?

It says it's an Airport Extreme update, not an update for the Airport utility.

If it were for the Airport and not the computer it would be a firmware update. Therefore would not have a specific OS listed.

This is an update to the way 10.4.11 talks to the Airport.

What? Tiger Only? My MacBook running 10.5.4 Leopard has random dropouts two to three times a day (going on-off-on-off and so on). I sure hope Apple will release a Leopard fix too, because this clearly started when I installed 10.5.3.

Totally pathetic. Good job on releasing a new OS but still not managing to fix the wireless problem on the macbooks

The wireless hardware in all the Mac computers is also called Airport and Airport Extreme. What people informally called the "Airport" is properly called an Airport Base Station or Airport Extreme Base Station.

Just mentally replace "Airport" with 802.11b and "Airport Extreme" with 802.11g/pre-n, and it makes a lot more sense.

Exactly. You'll want this update even if you don't use an airport extreme base station. It's updating the airport extreme card in your mac.

like a few others have said this is not for the airport base station but for the airport extreme card itself

This has definitely improved the reliability of my wireless connection (and I use the wireless router supplied by my cable company.)

Hooray!

It hasn't improved my wireless connection. It still goes through odd bits of downtime that fix themselves five minutes or so later. But hopefully this will fix Logic... Let me check...

YEP! Fixed it!

Used to be that I would have to quit Airport if I wanted to work or else I'd get crazy crackles and really awful performance. That is a thing of the past now! !!!

Installed fine on my Powerbook G4 on 10.5.4. Safari is definitely snappier.
