Question on Locked 3G IPhone with canceled contract

After i cancel my contract can i still use all the features except for phone service/2G/3G service? Will i still be able to listen to music, take pics, use wifi, watch movie, use app, etc without having to jailbreak?

This i'll be good while i decide if i want to use rebelsim, simfree, or a free unlocked software to unlock 3G IPhone(whenever that day comes =x)
 
I think you have to wait for a month after you signed the contract then pay the ETF. If you don't wait you have to give them back the phone. But you should be able to use everything

I thought you had to give your phone back if you cancel your contract?
