For some unusual reason after i restarted my computer after downloading a software update a trash can appeared on the desktop in addition to the one on the dock. I have no idea how to get rid of it and its really anoying.I know that there is a software available to make one one the desktop but i never downloaded it. Any help on how to get rid of the one on the desktop will be appreciated.

does the name has a "." in front of it? If so, your mac lets you see hidden files. With Cocktail or MacJanitor you can disable this, probably a permission which is screwed up.

I'm not sure what excactly i did but a fooled around with konfabulator and HD permissions and aventually got it to go away.Daveman Deluxe yes i do have konfabulator but it was not running at the time so i dont think it was the trash widget. Anyways thanks for the help guys, i'm glad i got rid of that
