I'm in my office, and incoming calls are not being received on my new 3g iphone, instead going to voicemail. This was NOT the case in the same location with previous 1st gen (edge) iPhone.

If I turn off 3g, and force edge, it still goes to VM. I thought the plastic backing was supposed to IMPROVE reception...

Is anyone else having similar decreases in reception upgrading to 3g?

I actually had 2 people try to call my tonight and the same thing occured

Just went straight to voicemail

I have a original iPhone though

My best guess is just poor connection strength of the phone

I'm not sure about 3G, but on Edge and GPRS that happens if the iPhone is using data, the data takes priority - eg loading a web page, a map, youtube, etc. The phone call won't come through at the same time.
