i generally recommend that everyone do away with welcome screens, unless they're short impactful flash screens when appropriate. in this case, just scrap it. I love the color scheme and the framing of the site.
I like the font you used in "gallery" and the small description at right, but I would change it when you use it later in the sidebar links of the different topics. That font doesn't look good at larger sizes when used repeatedly. I love the font you used in your name, something similar might be better for those sidebar items. Also, lose the "click for..." screens on the different topics, they don't show properly in Safari and seem useless anyway... Just hinders fast operation. A streamlined website will elicit a more positive memory for the user. Overall, i like it. excellent use of proportions and a calm simplicity that makes it attractive. Very nice. ![]() paul Last edited by paulwhannel; Jan 4, 2004 at 01:41 AM. |

Just to add to the comments of Paulwhannel, which I concur with...
It would be nice to have some clear "previous/Next" navigation through the portfolio sections, rather than relying on the User using the "Back" key on their Browser. There are a number of spelling mistakes littering the text, which I found very distracting, but that's just a bugbear of mine. [Note: "I" when referring to yourself should be a capital, rather than lower case. Not a bad attempt at all, well done. Vanilla |

the rollovers in the design portfolio make the links hard to read. try something a bit more simple.
if you are going to make a site that doesn't scale for the entire screen, it needs to be at least centered horizontally. you've got quite a few display issues such as attached below.

Great points
I really appreciate the input, these are all things that i have noticed, and have been trying to figure out. Now i realize i need to get them taken care of. Now on the point that certain things dont line up at times, i cant seem to figure it out, they line up fine in IE or Netscape, but in safari they are offset. Any help would be great! Thanks guys.

Not bad, but one of the biggest issues is that you have to back up to get to the index to pic the next piece in the portfolio.
Add previous - next links so you don't have to do the extra navigation. Also a home button might be appropriate - especially if you use the home page as a info section for new or updated links. D
