Aluminum MacBook Pictures LEAK!!

From Engadget:

http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/04/p...aiwanese-site/

Quote:
We can't say for sure these are the real deal, but if recent leaks of iPhone 3G production models are any indication, we might just be looking at Apple's new MacBook. It's a bit hard to make out what's happening in these photos, but to our eyes we're seeing the back of a metal laptop lid, as well as the as-yet-unused inner panel of the display. The text clearly reads MacBook, which falls right in line with rumors that the next iteration of the smaller laptops would be aluminum just like their big brothers. Right now it's anyone's guess if these pics are legit or not -- but you can be sure we'll be keeping a close watch on this one. Two more shots after the break.

They look pretty legit to me!

I don't know, it looks just like my MBA with the "Air" 'shopped out.
  • The plane where the hinge goes has the same 45˚ bevel
  • "MacBook" doesn't look centered
  • Same rubber seal around the outer edge

I was just going to say that ...

Also, what's up with the Apple logo being misplaced on the lid?

I don't think the apple is off-centre; I just think there is something covering the other half.

I noticed this; though I don't know whether there is any significance.
When engadget posted the first picture of a supposed iphone 3g leak it was later exposed as being simply a cover for the old iPhone here..
http://www.winandmac.com/news/3g-iph...ongnot-really/

Click on that link and then click on "Edit 2: You can buy the case from here."
You'll be taken to a site that is supposedly (or was) selling the 'case.'
This site is http://www.appleowner.com/index.php"
Recognise that? It's the site from the picture.
Now, either I fall short as a detective or there is something fishy going on here.

now that its been pointed out, said it the macbook writing on the bezel does look off centre, or maybe im seeing things? lol but yeah i think the other half of the lid is covered lol it would be pretty silly to have the apple at such an angle or maybe you all meant the macbook "writing" not the logo, still, i think theyr fake, if not ill eat my words

Looks like the perspective could be slightly off. If they were shopping out the logo, I think they would also make it centered anyway.

The 5 points of reference (4 corners with isight) help determine the center line.

Leaked Aluminum MacBook Case?

Apple.pro has posted new photos (via Engadget) of what are claimed to be the new MacBook casings. Apple.pro was the Chinese blog that previously posted photographs of prototype MacBook Pro casings that were later believed to be real.

The latest collection of photos reportedly depict the upcoming MacBook revision which is expected in late September. The photos depict the top half of the MacBook's casing without any electronic components. The glow-in-the-dark Apple logo remains in place in these images. The case is made of aluminum and resembles the MacBook Air casing.

Translation provided by Ken:
Quote:
A bunch of (more than 10) manufacturers mailed me to ask for the
dimensions and specs of the new revision MacBook Pros.
I don't want to talk about it.
Not because I'm worried about what will happen if I talk about it.
But why should I tell you?
We have no relationship.
We don't even know each other.
At least you should ask politely.
Anyway, enough of that.

This time, my good friend Ariel brought good information.
Everyone knows already that next month lots of products will be refreshed.
Of course that includes the MacBook, which we are going to show everyone ...
Of the entire line of MacBooks (MacBook/MacBook Pro/MacBook Air), only
the MacBook (black and white) is in a plastic case.
It's about time to unify them.

From the picture below we can see
that the MacBook has also entered the world of aluminum cases.
Along with its two big brothers it has changed to an aluminum case.
Everyone can also pay attention to the corners.
Right now Apple loves to do stuff like this.
Everyone wants to know if the Apple logo on the cover lights up.
The picture below should make this clear,
without needing me to say much.

As for the next two pictures,
I'm going to hold out a bit for now,
and everyone can just continue to wait for my reports.

And if Macrumors this time thinks that these are fake,
then all I can say is that you are blind!
