Learning OpenGL ES

Hi,

does anyone knows good tutorials, books etc about OpenGL ES for iPhone?

I know DirectX/XNA quite well, but have no idea about opengl.

Any info is appreciated.

Yes, I've tried Google, but nothing interesting comes up for iPhone OpenGL ES.

I think the video card on the iPhone is similar to the PowerVR if not the same.

Have a look at http://www.amazon.com/Mobile-3D-Grap...=pd_sim_kinc_5

It targets OpenGL ES 1.x; a book on 2.0 is due out soon, I've heard.

Thanks mate, I will check it out..

I wonder why information about OpenGL ES is so scarce? Is OpenGL for embedded devices are pretty new or not very popular?

I mean compare it to say DirectX on google search, gazillions of tutorials etc..

All you need to know about OpenGL ES in one file. First result in Google too so you didn't look very hard.

Shorter version for people who already know OpenGL (for desktop machines).

Thanks for the link... However, did you actually read through it? It doesn't give even a simple example, all it is how OpenGL ES is actually implemented, not how we are supposed to start using it. I think he's trying to ask some places where it starts with "Hello World" to things like using the touch for rotation, and gradually moving up, not a referential document of implementation

But still, thanks for the link as it might be helpful

Thanks mate, already have this pdf, but I found it bit too hard for beginners..

I would love to find some step by step tutorials instead of reading specification documents..

They have some tutorials listed here http://www.imgtec.com/PowerVR/inside...nGLES1xMBX.asp but for some reason they have no links? Those would be awesome if I could get them somehow..

Those are tutorials using THEIR SDK. I don't think it would be compatible with iPhones.

First result from Google I just did

4th result on Google I just did

I think those should get you started
