it's not *supposed* to be running anything else. Why do people think this is a Wimmo phone with apps running in the background? The dev kit strictly forbids it.
I was just able to recreate the problem without the iPod playing as I tried to edit my OP.
Rebooting of course helps, but only temporarily.
Also, the beloved delay when opening the SMS app seems to be back.

I have also never seen this problem, on 1.1.x, 2.0 or 2.0.1.

Interesting. I do have several lossless files, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason regarding the lag...it happens while playling lower bitrate tracks too, and sometimes without even playing the iPod at all.
I am not using the mobile forum, but I never have. Wasn't an issue with 1.1.4. Guess it's time to switch. It happens on Apple's forums too though, which have no mobile version, but are also mostly text.
When I make a snarky reply, I usually try to make it funny. How exactly is this user error, oh wise one? Wait, lemme guess, any problem that YOU don't have is user error, ya?

No problems on this end. I've been doing just that (iPhone/iPod goin' while texting) since last night's 2.0.1 firmware release. I was getting upset b/c a friend of mine kept texting while I was kickin' it in my living room. 🙁
