Apple Seeds Mac OS X 10.5.5 (9F9)

Apple has seeded developers with a new version of Mac OS X 10.5.5 (Build 9F9) to test. The latest seed comes just one week after the prior seed.

The newest seed lists 24 new fixes addressed in this seed with a focus on Sync Services, Mail and Addressbook.

Apple has started aggressively seeding Mac OS X builds shortly after the last release. The last version of Mac OS X was released on June 30th, 2008 and provided support for MobileMe services.

It seems like that's something they're gonna have to fix on the MobileMe end - not through a software update

Haha seriously? I never notice the difference, unless it's a whole new OS. xD As for stability... I haven't noticed a single instability so far, thankfully!

In recent months Apple has sped up the delivery of Leopard updates. 10.5.3 was in the end of May and 10.5.4 at the end of June.

At this rate 10.5.6 will be released by the end of the year.

So when they release Snow Leopard will they continue to update Leopard or are they trying to get all the bugs worked out so they don't have to continue support?

Which shows that Leopard clearly was rushed to release with lots of problems.

I'd prefer that Apple takes their time and does a better initial release.

What? We are ready on 10.5.5? Doesn't time fly by so fast? Does it feel like Leopard was released a month ago?

Or is it just me?

I heard that time speeds up faster or seems to go by faster as we move closer to the year 2012.

Another massive patch?

Well, I guess I can collect my bets that Leopard was the buggiest and most pre-maturely shipped version of OS X.

Now, let's hope the server version is finally usable. At this point, the client version is pretty good, and this patch will most likely make it excellent. The server version still is not commercial quality.

I'm a big fan of Apple, and I hope these dark ages of quality---bugs, heat, screens, fit and finish--are coming to an end.

With all of the embarrassment of the iPhone and mobileme launch, I hope with all of my heart that the leaders of Apple are taking this quality slide seriously and are now focused on building Apple into a company which not only innovates, but can deliver high quality products.
