what firmware, any mods installed...jailbroken
strange.. try powering on the ipod again. hold the home and sleep/wake button until the screen is blank. then press the sleep/wake button again to power it on. if that doesn't work, restore the ipod.
Isn't there a screen calibration test somewhere?
Like for example... The DS has a setting option to calibrate the touchscreen.
Apple should Add this in the settings menu In the next update So people don't rush to conclusions and restore; therefore losing all they had on there Ipod.

My first iPhone had to be returned because the middle of the screen (4, 5, & 6 on the phone dialogue) had become unresponsive. When you're scrolling in Safari, does the screen become "jumpy" when you reach that area?
