Mac OS X 10.5.5 Build 9F13 Seeded

Apple appears to be sending out weekly seeds of the newest version of Mac OS X 10.5.5 to developers. The prior seed was released on August 7th.

This new version (Build 9F13) details 10 more bug fixes and unlike prior builds, Apple lists no known issues.

It's difficult to predict when the next version of Mac OS X will be released to the public, but it should be a free upgrade and include a number of bug fixes.

I hope 10.5.5 fixes the bug where iTunes endlessly prompts to re-authorize a computer.

When has a point release ever been a time when Apple charges? I can understand 10.5 -> 10.6, but not 10.5.4 -> 10.5.5.

Probably just a 'filler' fact to keep the news article structure.

I agree with you. I really think that we will not have any charge.

But for the 10.6 I pay with pleasure :-)

At the moment I'm quite happy with 10.5.4 I have no bugs at all. But sometimes Leopard seems a little slower than Tiger. Perhaps I'm wrong...

I reckon this build (9F13) will be the final release.

Expect 10.5.5 within a week

Since when did a "beta" upgrade to an unscheduled OS update transition from page 2 to front page???

I think it's to stem the tide of newbies who inevitably respond to news of point upgrades with cries of "I just gave Apple $129 4 months ago to buy Leopard and now they're already gonna come out with a new version?! What the h*** Apple! "

This update will be free. I mean, those 10 bug fixes must be REALLY important to justify charging.

Anywho, I hope this fixes my trouble with.. well I can't really think of anything that isn't working the way it should on my computer, but I'll welcome this update with open arms.

Hope this will fix the Finder windows flickering issue I have (since 10.5.2, at least). And maybe make ScreenSharing more... reliable!

Yes, why say "...but it should be a free upgrade..."?
Geez, with this pace, we'll pretty much be at 10.5.8 by December!

What "bug" is that? I don't have this problem -- never have. Has anyone else seen this?

if they are at 10.5.5 now, at this pace they will never make it a year before they run out of numbers. We'll have 10.5.9 Service Pack 6a Second Edition R2 before 10.6 comes out!

With the new OpenGL 3.0 recently released, I wonder if Apple is going to add it to Leopard or just wait for Snow Leopard. From the Kronos Group press release, a significant number of GPUs already have the feature set to support OpenGL 3.0 so it doesn't seem to be a big change. Which I hear is quite controversial in itself, since OpenGL was supposed to be a complete rewrite.

Usually in these cases, software companies version numbers go like this:
10.5.5
10.5.6
10.5.7
10.5.8
10.5.9
10.5.10
10.5.11 ....

Nevermind that it doesn't make sense according to MATH.
