AT&T Wi-Fi Service for iPhone

I thought that AT&T offered free wi-fi for iPhone users at AT&T hot spots. Do you have to start an account to use the service, or can you just start surfing? If you need to start an account, please tell me where to get the account started.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but I thought I remembered this as one of those rumors that didn't pan out. (And not just a wild rumor, I think there was some talk from AT&T about this.) But as far as I know, it never happened.

If someone wants to come and tell me I'm wrong, I'd love to hear it too.
