Interesting...so it won't ditch the shoe sensor for GPS? I guess the GPS isn't accurate enough.

love for nike+
i can honestly say that the nike+ program completely turned running on for me. before it, there was little motivation to challenge myself as i never saw results, but after having used it since January of 07, I've seen a shift in lifestyle priorities, and it helped me in finishing my first ironman last weekend. i recommend it to anyone, and the iphone app will further my interest in the program.

I hope Nike comes out with a kick as arm band too.
I have tried a couple and just don't trust those others. I REALLY liked the armband for the nano that they made. |

I refuse to purchase products from a company that once published this ad in a hiking magazine:
"Fortunately, the Air Dri-Goat features a patented, goat-like out sole for increased traction, so you can taunt mortal injury without actually experiencing it. Right about now you're probably asking yourself, "How can a trail running shoe with an outer sole designed like a goat's hoof help me avoid compressing my spinal cord into a Slinky on the side of some unsuspecting conifer, thereby rendering me a a drooling, misshapen, non-extreme-trail-running husk of my former self, forced to roam the Earth in a motorized wheelchair with my name, embossed on one of those cute little license plates you get at carnivals or state fairs, fastened to the back?" To that we answer, hey, have you ever seen a mountain goat (even an extreme mountain goat) careen out of control into the side of a tree? Didn't think so." Nike lost my business in 2000. |

I hope so. The current system can't detect when you go up or down hills...it just thinks you are slowing down/speeding up for no apparent reason.

Looks very cool. I've been waiting for this announcement for a while.
If it only works with the 3G because it needs the GPS, this may be the App that forces me to upgrade.

I actually recently lost my iPod Nano (stolen) and the week I went without it was hell. I had no motivation to run (though I did) without knowing roughly how far or fast I was going--and running without music was not much fun either. I've become completely dependent.
The sad thing was I had to go out and buy a new one knowing there would likely be an iPod touch-based Nike+ coming soon. I had told myself that I would buy a touch when it: a) reached 32 gb, and b) included Nike+ support. Sigh. Anyone want to buy a slightly used iPod nano in a few months? ![]() Edit: Assuming this will work with the iPod touch. If iPhone only, then I'm OK.

as much as i prefer running with my shuffle, this would be pretty sweet. i've contemplated buying a nano just so i could use nike+
the difference with me is i enjoy running and have been doing it for years. this will hardly be motivational, just a nice tool to calculate routes and whatnot. |

http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/nikegoat.asp I have 6 kids, none of whom have had any merchandise with a Nike swoosh logo on it, since that ad came out. When they turn 18, they can do as they wish. |

so it would appear the nike+ kit will work with the iphone in the near future? i would like to use my iphone when i run instead of my nano as i could sell the nano and make back some of my money.

Thus far, if I've ever been lucky enough to have GPS trigger in the Maps app, it has always consistently trailed my actual location. This is going to be a major, major problem for gps driving instructions, but maybe not so major for running. At least with running I'm only doing like 6-7 mph. |

Even Apple has run afoul of the politically correct crowd. Remember the "thin is in" slogan? No company is immune from making ignorant or potentially offensive statements when they're trying to be "glib."

So you feel that my being upset with those who belittle the disabled is senseless? How else are we to educate the ignorant?
