3D software?

Can anyone recommend any 3d software that isn't Lightwave or Cinema 4D.

Maya is very powerful. There's also Bryce, which is relatively simple and might not do everything you want.

Carrera 3 would be a nice app to start with if you don't want to spend big bucks
