yeah.. I know that. I am running it as well. I was pointing out that it is in the mobile app store.

It may just be a notice, but there was talk of OTA updates a month ago or so.

OTA would be awesome! I don't see why they couldn't push updates through the app store.

It's not "in the store". Notice the ad just says to click to "learn more". Chances are it takes you to a website.

it would be pretty awesome. They had better build in some checks first though. What if you update and your battery dies? Of course, that is easily avoided, but there are many kinds of people out there...

Would be nice though. I'm guessing the link in the image I posted is just a notice letting people know it exists.

well, no need for an entire filesystem download OTA. The only reason for the big downloads is security. They encrypt it and all that wonderfull stuff. If it goes straight to the device, just patch what's new. Like OS X.

This is how the iPhone/iPod touch OS is going to be distributed.

Now that a whole lot of countries are coming to the iPhone without the iTunes Store, Apple will be doing it all through the App Store.

Won't be OTA but it will be more closely linked to the App Store than the Media store.

Apples not that stupid they would think of a way to make the iphone only update itself if it had like over 80-70% of battery left.
