New iPhone Ads: 'Lonely Planet', 'Cro Mag', 'Vicinity'

Apple has posted three new iPhone commercials to their site. The three commercials illustrate the use of the App Store to download apps directly to the iPhone using different examples.

- 'Lonely Planet': demonstrates downloading Lonely Planet's Mandarin Mobile Phrasebook [App Store] in order to learn how to ask for a restaurant recommendation.
- 'Cro Mag': demonstrates downloading Pangea Software's Cro-Mag Rally [App Store] and the use of the iPhone as a steering wheel for game control.
- 'Vicinity': demonstrates downloading ActiveGuru's Vicinity [App Store] in order to find a nearby café and view its location on a map with directions.

I like the Cro-Mag Ad the best... It shows that the iphone can be an excellent gaming device.

In general, a nice round of apps.

I wish I knew why I can see those on the Apple site with my iPhone, but not the Get a Mac ads.

Anyway, nice. I actually like the Vicinity ad best because it shows an integration with the other parts of the iPhone, like Maps, which is part of what makes the iPhone so great.

i'm not really a fan of any of these commercials. they do a good job of describing the functionality of the iphone, but other than that, they don't leave me with the sense of humor or artistic expression most of their commercials have. i'd give these a B-.

Yes, I did notice that. Went looking for it on my iPhone. Doesn't exist. What's the deal with that?

it kept crashing on my imac too. so i read through all these comments and i got it to load by going into safari preferences and unchecked enable plugins under security. but now the ads won't play!!

EDIT: after the page loaded i went back to preferences and re-checked enable plugins and clicked on the ads and they worked!!!

Safari keeps crashing for me too....

Yes, it's a plugin issue, but not from a Safari plugin... rather, a Quicktime one. My Safari is completely clean and updated... nothing funky about it. Backtrace in the crash log implies Quicktime combined with Carbon are creating the issue. Looking further into it...

****ing Carbon though... I've been very unhappy with Leopard's stability... but it's always caused by either a Carbon app or the AD2P driver. >_< ARHILFGSLIDHS:HDYSIUHF GOD DAMMIT APPLE. RELEASE 2.1 FOR THE IPHONE AND THEN IGNORE IT FOR A WHILE TO FIX LEOPARD

Continued...

Removed all my Quicktime Plugins... ads worked.
Added the plugins back in one by one... ads still worked >_<
Now I can't make Safari crash when I want it to.
