Use Sling-box instead of video capture device

Hi, I am trying to capture analog video from a VCR onto my Mac and was wondering if Slingbox would be a viable method instead of using something like an Analog/Digital Video Converter, for example the Canopus ADVC110, which connects directly to your computer using firewire (all my equipment is far away from my computer so firewire cables would not stretch).

Has anyone tried this method? I would like to know if the quality would be up to par with the footage captured thru a conventional firewire capture device.
