I'm researching monitors to buy for use with my 2.2 MBP. I've read quite a few posts here on Mac Rumors and I've finally decided on two contenders - the NEC 2490 or the Lacie 324. My budget is around $1000 for a quality monitor that I will use for image and video editing (as well as surfing for porn ).
The NEC has an IPS panel which is great for color and is being marketed as a device perfect for medical imaging. The Lacie has a PVA panel and is being marketed as a pro monitor for both video and still images.
The NEC can be had for around $1060 while the Lacie is around $980. The price difference isn't too far apart, so that is not the issue. My main concern is that I've not had experience with either monitor and I've no where to go to see how it would work with my MBP.
I don't want to buy on specs alone so I would appreciate any input that anyone has regarding either/both monitors. It would be especially helpful, as well, if you are in the video editing, graphic arts or print industry.
I realize that this is a lot to ask of a monitor, but a decent jack-of-all-trades display would suit me fine for home office work.
