Nither one.

Unless the person is trying not to pass on viruses...

ClamVX is free and seems very popular, but you really don't need any anti virus software for your Mac in most cases (some Universities require them, don't want to pass on infections, etc.).

Well i got both programs for free from a buddy so it's not a price thing, but if just a waste of space then I won't install either. Is it true that macs can't get virusus? No matter what?

Norton Antivirus is trash, just search these forums for it and you will see that it has caused countless problems.

It isn't even that good on PC or the Mac.

There are no known viruses for OS X at the moment but there is a torjan which claims to be a video codec and is usually associated with porn sites. That said it is still be to practise safe computing and do not give your password to anything you don't know what it is.4

That said the situation may change in the future so it is prudent to keep up with the news, if it does happen it will be all over the mac web.

I personally do not use any sort of antivirus program at this moment in time.

Then don't bother; they just take up space, RAM and processor cycles.

Eeeew! You have a mac, and you want to put an antivirus in there? That's crazy!

If you download alot of bittorrents..ect..its not that crazy.
Its crazy not to have one..its not like you are paying for the program..so why not have it.

I'd go w/ ClamVX. simple..easy..and best part..Its free

If you are not concerned about passing a virus to someone else then you do not need either, at least for the time being.

If you are concerned about passing a virus to someone else then I would recommend ClamXav. It is free but donations are greatly appreciated.

When, not if, OS-X viruses appear can you imagine all the OS-X-non-anti-virus users who are going to get hammered?! Whew! Many people do not want to use AV software at all but for the rest of us it is simply not an issue if we are using a Mac with two, four or eight cores and ample RAM.

I wonder how much memory/processor time typical widgets use? Or the seemingly endless supply of totally useless software ***** people put on their Macs?

I like perspective.
