Bootcamp AND Parrallells>>>Only 1 Copy of Windows????

Is it possible for me to do this? I prefer to have both OS side by side, so I need parallels, but i would like to be able to boot up native so i can play games also......but i ABsoLutley am not buying a second copy of windows for my MBP!!!
 
Sure why not. I don't have Parallels, but my VMware allows me to use my BootCamp partition as a VM.
 
I believe that both Parallels and Fusion allow you to use your BootCamp partion of Windows. Otherwise, just install it twice since that is now allowed under the new M$ EULA so long as it is on the same piece of hardware.

cool. and how complicated would the configuration of such be? like, is there directions anywhere that would tell me exactly how to do that? and i would have to make the boot camp partition like less than 30gb for the files to be transferable between both OS, correct? thanks.

I use VMWare Fusion instead of Parallels, but I'm sure the installation is similar.

This is probably a little oversimplified, but:

Use Boot Camp to partition the drive
Install Windows on the partition
Activate Windows
Install Fusion
Install VMWare Tools from the menu
Done

You can use MRoogle to search for threads using "parallels" as your search and you will find a wealth of threads explaining exactly how to do it.

thanks so much for the responses....2 more questions for ya: 1) Will the VMware fusion VM be a mirror image of my Bootcamp version of windows? Like, if I install VLC while on bootcamp, VLC would still be there in the VMfusion VM? 2) Also, is the internet connection shared between the VM and Mac, or will i have to configure them separatley --- More specifically, I plan on using Secure Tunnel (and internet encryption Proxy type of app) on my windows VM - But will that be compromised by the fact that OSX will not be encrypted? Hard to describe, but you know what i mean??? thanks.
--and i think i'm gonna do VMware fusion, since it seems to be better i guess.

1) You're accessing your boot camp partition via VMWare Fusion/Parallels Desktop. Any changes you do are written onto the disk.

2) You can use a "Bridged" network, configuratible from VMWare Fusion or Parallels. This way, the network will see the VM as a 2nd system.

Yes, that is exactly how it works. Good choice with VMware, it is a much more stable and polished product then parallels.
