I recently upgraded to Panther. Now, I can barely get my DVD drive/software to play DVDs. I know that these discs are not defective because they work in other drives. I really hope that my DVD drive isn't defective. I suspect it is a software issue because it always did work spotty, and now it is exhibiting similar behavior, just all the time instead of some of the time. When I try to watch LotR:TTT (fresh out of the box!), it just spits the disc back out after a minute or two. With other DVDs, the disc mounts, but DVD Player hangs/crashes. I deleted DVD Player's preferences but that doesn't seem to do it. What do I do?

Your DVD Problemo

Hey,

I wanted to say that I also had this problem and I threw my mac out of the window 😛

I have heard that putting Linux on your mac (like YellowDog) would fix the problem. Try that and let me know how it pans out. If not, you can always replace your drive with a SuperDrive.
