No mention of push API. I wonder if they got pushed to the next rev (2.2) in lieu of fixes.

I'll definitely take the battery life improvement though, I manged to drain the battery down to 5% in a day over labor day weekend.

I hope so. We pretty much know it's coming, but when?

In any case, "no app crashes" is a great feature! That's the kind of user-friendly interaction that people love

I almost cried when this was announced. Seriously.

This is the ONE time I didn't care about no new features. I just want a stable OS for my phone! No more restarts, apps crashing, getting my phone replaced, etc.

Friday can't come quick enough!!!!!

Battery life? I am not an engineer so could someone give an explanation on how new software will "significantly" improve battery life

The last two updates were supposed to be "bug fixes". Sure 2.1 will fix more bugs, but do you really think it will fix everything and make it all perfect? HA

I'm not sure what some people wanted (actually, I am sure, since they keep saying it over and over and over again) just 2 months after a 2.0 release. Look what they didn't add over the course of 1 year. Why would they offer so much more in only a few months?

Dont mean to sound like a killjoy...

...but was that it? All that, nice as it was, was hardly what I'd consider a 'big deal'.

Maybe it's just me....

Its not just you, I was wondering why they wasted journalists time with this ho-hum announcement.

I would like to make it clear that I liked what was announced today. The purple nano in particular looks really cool.

2.1 firmware for the iPhone... swweeettt. I love my iPhone but it has a couple of niggles I'd like to see the back off.

It's just that I wouldn't consider this a 'big deal' which is what some journos were led to believe. But overall I'm happy with what was released today.

Agree with several previous posters...let's get a stable phone. Yea, I'd love cut-n-paste and improvements around email/calendar that would help me ditch my Blackberry, but I'll take stability right now.

2.1 another let down

Hasnt been released yet but WTH
  1. Fewer dropped calls ? Thats AT&T and YOU "STEVE" how about NO dropped calls
  2. NO cut and paste still, WTH are you waiting for ?
  3. Better Battery life, OK that's a major perk
  4. No apps crashing, Hmmmmm ok we'll see about that, this is going to have to be tested and proven thoroughly.
GPS is coming when Tom Tom finishes there current program according to information on the web.

Absolutely. Assuming Apple can deliver on all these new "features", this is the best news I've heard this week.

2.0.X is for bug fixes + stability.

2.X is for new features.

so... where are the new features?
