I can fix my problem but is this a bad idea?

I want to take my sim card out of my iphone put it on my other one take the numbers off that and then move them to my computer then sync with my iphone. Is that asking for problems or will there be nothing wrong with doing that?
 
I did that. I simply synced the old phone using iSync, then synced the iPhone through iTunes and everything was transferred correctly.
