Bluetooth headsets look stupid

Whenever I see someone with that big bluetooth thing on their ear I just laugh. Why not just wear the earbuds, since it had a mic on it?

1. Everyone doesn't have an iPhone.

2. Everyone doesn't listen to the iPod portion of their iPhones. I don't 90% of the time, but I'm often driving or shopping or whatever while I'm on the phone. It's easy to keep my iPhone in my pocket or purse and answer calls from my Bluetooth.

3. If you think they look stupid, don't use one.
 
it is a valid question because it really does look absolutely ridiculous and I hate bluetooth headsets with a passion

Valid question. Poor delivery. Besides the other responses, for some it is a status/power symbol.

Personally, I figure these are the people who didn't meet some mimimum requirement and the Borg threw them back.
 
I have an old friend who calls it Techor.

The funny thing is when I see someone with an ear bud in their ears holding the mic and talking I wonder why they just didn't pony up the money for a BT headset. They're so much easier to use while doing things and don't get in the way.

However, I do think that people who wear them when not in use look moronic. Seriously, it's not hard to put back in your pocket.
 
Can't stand bluetooth douche bags. The only people I see wearing them are the over 40 crowd.

i only use one if im in the confines of my own home and im playing a game and have to talk to someone on the phone.

Otherwise, yes they are douchey. They are either used as a status symbol, or used by some 35 year old garbage man trying to somehow justify his importance

This is soooo correct.

I don't have a problem with people using them, especially when driving, but the need to walk around wearing one as an accessory, looking like Lieutenant Uhura from Star Trek, is ridiculous.

i would use one around the house and in the car but I hate the people who walk around the mall on their bluetooth headsets. I always think thy are on crack and are talking to themselves, especially the ones with the headsets that are really tiny.
 
I was walking and talking in the grocery store (no, I don't talk loudly, I find loud talkers extremely rude), and this couple decided to interrupt my conversation to tell me that they run a halfway house for mentally ill people, and thought that I was a likely patient until they realized I was on the phone.


Um...okay. :confused: Thanks for interrupting my conversation to tell me that you two didn't understand my personal business. :rolleyes: And it was especially ridiculous, since I was wearing the honking big Plantronics 510 at the time.

I don't care what anyone else thinks about it. It's my convenience, plus using a hands-free device while driving is the law where I live.



And for those who want me to take it out of my ear when it's not in use, only to put it back in to answer the phone, I guess you haven't been in the position of trying to juggle putting it back in at the precise angle fast enough so that you don't lose the phone call, and not pushing the wrong button all at the same time. My whole reason for using the thing is so that I can do other things with my hands.

Hands-free. Get it?

The only problem with that are the morons who are having a conversation on the phone when someone else doesn't realize it. I get the "you're a jerk" looks all the time when I ask someone if they need help at work and didn't realize someone on the other side was talking or that they were even using the phone! It's not like I'm a freaking mind reader!
 
i don't have the luxury of driving without one.
here in cali we have a law that just recently
went into effect saying if you're hands are
busy with a cellphone and not the wheel,
you're ****ed when the popo see's you.

i only use my jawbone when driving.
 
mine is kept in my pocket at all times except when I am on a call. I do agree that the people who walk around with their headsets on all time makes me laugh. Like they are getting so many calls that they need to have the thing sitting on their ear all day long.

This is exactly what I use mine for too. And since I am in the LA area I spend an unfortunate amount of time in my car during the week, so Bluetooth it is!!!
