Virus checking in VMware tryit-version

Dumping Parallels. Goin to start again with clean XP Pro under VMware.

Does the try-it-and-see version of VMware have virus checking in ? I read that paying for it gives a year's free MacAfee - how is this handled in the trial version ?

I wouldn't feel safe venturing out on the wild internet without some protection.
