So I'm using a Pismo running 10.3.2...

What confuses me is the startup chord when I first turn the machine on. I think this is part of the Bios.

What' weird is sometimes it plays and other times not. It has nothing to do with how loud the volume was when I shut it off.

Anyone know what controls it?

Thanks, Adam

If you mute your machine before you power it down the chord generally won't play on startup. And if it's not muted... it'll play...

Not muted...

What I mean is that it's not muted before I shut down and it still won't play when I start back up.

Once in a while it does, not always.

No big deal, just curious.

I had the same thing happening when I first had my TiBook. I was told it was a firmware problem. After updating (When I installed OSX) it was fixed.
