I bought a G4 400 Tibook, and it has 2 128MB chips in it. One says 133 on it and the other says PC100. Is that bad?? I don't want to fry the computer...

I would like to jump up to 512 133mhz RAM and keep the 128 133mhz chip, so I have more breathing room

Know of a cheap place to buy some RAM????

Thanks!

Oh- the 400mhz TiBook only has a 100mhz bus. You gain nothing by using a higher spec'd RAM. Buy PC100.

But, do get more RAM. 512+128 is a good amount for most people.

No, it isn't bad (given the 100 mhz bus). Using higher speed RAM doesn't give any advantage, the RAM just operates at the lower speed.

I checked out those sites listed above, but there seems to be some really cheap RAM at memoryx.com.

I can get generic PC133 512MB for $57(1back) or $80(2 backs)...any advise about generic RAM or if my RAM needs to be on one side only or two???

Thanks

Edit: Actually, I think I was looking at Desktop RAM. a little "i" "D" "10" "T" problem...

also, make sure you buy pc100 ram. i will be cheaper than 133 and there will be NO difference.

the transintl.com ram has a lifetime warranty.

i use their ram (2x512) and it has worked flawlessly for 3+ years.
